Würzburg Academics and Students in India 2014
In its 4th year of collaboration, the Institute yet again expanded its cooperation with India: In 2014 Würzburg Professors and Students traveled again to India either as visiting Lecturers or to do research.
In September and October 2014 Prof. Dr. Gisela Müller-Brandeck-Bocquet traveled as a visiting Lecturer to Mangalore University and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi, Würzburg University has a Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with both Universitites, as well as to the Universities in Manipal and Mumbai. Prof. Müller-Brandeck-Bocquet gave lectures on the topics the Democratic deficit in the European Union and the Euro crisis, as well as other topics.
PD Dr. Michael Becker from the Department of Political Theory also visited Mangalore University in southern India as well as JNU in New Delhi where he, in addition to other activities, took part in a workshop on Jürgen Habermas and presented on the Question of Constitutionality.
Michael Melcher from the Department of European Studies and International Relations was also a visiting Lecturer at JNU in New Delhi and discussed German Foreign Policy as well as other topics with Master and PhD students.
Philipp Gieg from the Department of European Studies and International Relations visited the Universities in New Delhi, Udaipur, Mangalore, Manipal, Mumbai and Chandigarh as a visiting Scholar and visiting Lecturer. He gave lectures on Indo-African and Chinese-African Relations as well as German Foreign Policy and did research for his Dissertation.
In addition, many students from the Master’s Program Political and Social Sciences also traveled to India. Anja Zürn and Simon Nolte did research for their Master Thesis on the topic Indian Environmental Policy in the United Nations.
