Workshop Panel: "Gender, BRICS and G20 – Contested Norms and Categories in Global Governance"

In February 2024, the ICAS:MP workshop "The Lens of Gender: Refiguration of Categories" took place at India International Centre in New Delhi. In this framework, Dr. Philipp Gieg from IPS and Prof. Ummu Salma Bava from JNU New Delhi convened a panel on "Gender, BRICS and G20 – Contested Norms and Categories in Global Governance" on 27 February 2024.

In July 2023, the ICAS:MP workshop "The Challenge of Gender" took place in Würzburg. Researchers from India and Germany as well as international guests discussed in three panels, among others, "International Organizations and the Promotion of Gender Equality" or "Gender, Violence and the Complexities of Law".

Workshop: "Listen to the Global South! Uncovering the Roles of Southern Actors in Writing Global Gender Norms"

Experts from Africa, America, Asia, Australia and Europe met in December 2021 to discuss the role of actors from the Global South in writing global gender norms. Within the framework of the Indo-German ICAS:MP Centre of Advanced Studies, the virtual workshop was organized by Anja Zürn, Philipp Gieg, Timo Lowinger (IPS India Forum), Soumita Basu (South Asian University, New Delhi) and Peace Medie (University of Bristol).

Workshop: India and the European Union – Joining Forces on the Global Scene?

Can India and the EU join forces on the global scene – and if so how and in which fields? An international experts’ workshop held at the University of Würzburg tackled these very questions. In several panels which revolved around the topics of climate policy, development cooperation, security, and economic relations, international researchers debated foundations, perspectives, and global ambitions of EU-India relations.

Workshop and Lectures in Delhi

In the context of the project "Foundations of the Indo-European Strategic Partnership". the second part of the workshop on "Constitutional Democracy" took place in Delhi on March 15th and 16th, 2018. PD Dr. Becker also visited Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia.

Panel Discussion: The Paris Agreement under Discussion

Under the title “The Paris Agreement – Achievements and Shortcomings”, Indian guest professor and political scientist Prof. Sanjay Chaturvedi from Panjab University, Chandigarh, and climatologist Prof. Heiko Paeth from the University of Würzburg discussed their perspectives on the Agreement. The debate was organized by the IPS Indie Forum and was chaired by Prof. Gisela Müller-Brandeck-Bouquet, professor for European Studies and International Relations.
